This weather has been incredible and should have you thinking about the upcoming outdoor season, and if fishing is on your mind then come out to the 2012 Spring Fishing Classic here at Bass Pro Shops in Cincinnati. The event will run from Friday February 24th through Sunday March 11th and is chock full of free activities.
The Classic kicks on Friday with fishing and boating vendors manning booths to talk to you about their products and answer any questions you might have. The vendors will be here Friday 10a-8p, Saturday 10a-6p and Sunday 10a-5p. Representatives will be here from Daiwa/Frabill, Pure Fishing, Shimano/G Loomis, St. Croix, Zebco/ Quantum, Plano/Lucky Strike, Normark/VMC/Suffix, Strike King, Pradco, Hummingbird/Minnkota, Lowrance and Pro Mariner.
Also on Friday, we will have local pros and experts holding free workshops on fishing and boating subjects. Here is the schedule of workshops:

On Friday we will also begin our annual Reel Trade-in program, where you can bring in your reels that you don’t use and receive a coupon towards the purchase of a new one. This will start on the 24th and run through March 2nd.
We are happy to announce that we will have National Pros here on Friday March 2nd to conduct workshops as part of our Bassmasters University. At 7:00pm we will have Ted Takasaki, Hall of Fame Angler here to talk to you about “Jigging for Big Eyes”. Then, at 8:00pm Woo Daves, 2000 Bassmaster Classic Champion will be here to teach “Fishing with Soft Plastics & Fishing Different Patterns & Techniques”. All attendees of the University will receive a FREE 32-page guide from Bassmaster full of useful fishing tips.
Saturday and Sunday March 3-4, we will be offering FREE tank demos by our local pros on various topics. See store for times and details.
The last weekend has us hosting our kids event in our “Next Generation Weekend” event. This year some new and exciting changes, first and foremost being our Catch and Release Fishing Indoor Fishing Pond. From Noon to 5:00pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday kids will have the opportunity to catch live fish at our indoor pond and then have a free photo opportunity to pose with their big catch, and the first 50 kids to participate receiving a FREE Next Generation Drawpack.
From Noon to 2:00pm each day we will be offering FREE kids crafts including an Alligator Clip and Wood Wiggle Snake. There will be FREE coloring sheets for the kids to color and take home. Also, on Saturday and Sunday we will be conducting kids fishing workshops on the following subjects:
2:00pm - Using a Spinning Reel and Rod; how much line to load, casting properly, and what type of spinning combination to use
3:00pm – When to use bobbers, sinkers, live bait or artificial and what is right for different styles of fishing
4:00pm – Fishing baskets and stringers, what is best and how to use them properly
