It looks like the fishing is starting to pick up a bit which is good news to all of us. Hopefully this will be a prelude to a strong fall run.
The first report is from Capt. Scott Summer Job Charters out of Newburyport.
We went through the normal slow down of fishing but the low light and cool nights seem to be kicking the fishing back into high gear! There have been more surface feeding stripers than I have seen in years. Most are just sub-legal but there are keepers too. The hard fighting bluefish are also around. Nothing screams a reel like an angry bluefish!! I have seen a few bluefish blitzes on the surface. Most are caught with the spinning rods for any quick action on the surface.
Summer is coming to an end but the fishing is not! We have at least 6-7 weeks to go.
Good fishing,
Capt. Scott
The next report comes from Capt Dave Bitters of Baymen Charters out of Duxbury.
The late summer blitz is off to a good start. The past three mornings it has felt like mid fall on the bay at first light. Lots of peanut bunker and small juvie herring in the bay. Also, crabs continue to be a steady diet for many striped bass. Fish the top water blitz, but don’t ignore the deeper channels. We have consistently seen big bass on the bottom in many of our spots over the past couple of days….

Good Fishing,
