Five Quick Tips For Your Next New Hampshire Hunting Adventure

Hunting is in full swing in New Hampshire! There are some quick tips that will help you succeed on your next hunting trip.

1. Scent elimination is key! Make sure to remove as much human scent as possible before heading out into the field.

Consider buying product specifically for scent control. There is a wide selection of soaps, antiperspirant, laundry detergent, and tooth paste to help you stay unnoticed in the field.

2. Remain quiet and listen carefully

Walk softly by taking short, balanced steps to reduce noise while walking in the woods. If using a tree stand, practice setting up and getting into to. Using a tree stand with minimal sound requires practice.

3. Concealment: Blind, tree stand, camouflage.

Not sure what is the best type of camouflage to use? Come down to our store. We have experienced staff that will help you make the perfect purchase for your needs.

However.....

4. Wear hunter orange during firearm season.

Remember safety first, day or night! In New Hampshire it is not required by law to wear but it is highly recommended.

5. Make memories and share your passion with our next generation of hunters.

Mark your calendar! Youth deer hunt weekend in New Hampshire is October 25th & 26th.

Happy Hunting!

Turkey Hunting Tips

Safety First

  • DO NOT wear red, white, or blue underneath your garments, as these are colors of turkeys heads.
  • NEVER stalk a turkey! There is a good chance the sound you're hearing is another hunter.
  • Position yourself behind a tree wider than you in case another hunter stalks your calls.

Locating/Scouting

  • Early bird doesn't always get the worm. Sometimes you'll have better luck sleeping in and going out after 9 when everyone else is out of the woods.
  • Find birds that no one else knows about.
  • There is a good chance if you see birds on the side of the road, so has everyone else!
  • If there is a vehicle parked in the spot where you were going to hunt, go somewhere else.

Camo Selection

  • Wear SPRINGTIME COLORS!
  • (Real Tree Xtra Green or Mossy Oak Obsession)

Decoys

  • If you use them, use them right! Make sure they are visible to the boys.

Calling

  • Don't be too aggressive but make yourself known!
  • Remember you are trying to call the boys to the girls but natures way is the girls go to the boys!

Next Generation Weekend

Bass Pro Shops, "Next Generation" event was a HUGE hit with the kids on March 15th and 16th! Not only was this event a great way to learn how to fish, but the first 150 kids who completed their punch card got a FREE tackle box!

Our events and promotions coordinator, Monica, had a lot of great things to say! "Next Generation Weekend was very successful! You couldn't help but smile when you saw a child catch a fish! A big thank you to everyone who volunteered for this event."

Along with the catch and release pond, this fun filled weekend held two different seminars: women's workshop and kid's workshop! Both groups were able to learn about fishing basics from knowledgeable anglers.

Kids were also able to make crafts and take a picture with the trout they caught or a stuffed bass!

It's safe to say that our kid's event was a success! A big thank you to Monica and her volunteers for creating such a fun environment.

Great job guys!
